Cambridge United is delighted to announce that Jubril Okedina has signed a new contract with the Club…
The 21-year-old defender has made 56 appearances for the U’s since initially joining on loan in January 2021, before signing a permanent deal with the Club last August.
After featuring 41 times last season in his first full season of senior professional football, Okedina has now committed his future to the Amber and Black by signing a three-year contract.
“I am very happy,” Okedina said. “I have had plenty of great moments here at Cambridge and I now look forward to creating more.
“I feel fresh, I feel fit and I feel ready to get the season going.”
Mark Bonner said, “Jubril has performed well throughout last season and in his combined permanent and loan period with us has already clocked up a good number of appearances. Working to retain the services of such prospects is a key part of our strategy and we are delighted that we can work with Jubril for the next few seasons as he continues developing in our environment.
“His task is to find the consistency required to go along with his undoubted athleticism and technical qualities to secure a regular place in the team and keep contributing to us in a positive manner. The past 18 months have shown us his huge potential.
“We are proving to be a good place for players such as Jubril and are enhancing our reputation for being a club where players have opportunities and can work with the coaches to maximise their potential.”
Okedina's new deal runs until the end of the 2024/25 season.
