Cambridge United is pleased to announce that Lorent Tolaj has joined the Club on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion…
The 20-year-old has been monitored closely by United and makes the move ahead of the closure of the January transfer window.
Tolaj – a Swiss under-19 international – has scored 12 times for the Seagull’s U23s side this season and will bolster the U’s attacking options for the remainder of the season.
“I feel good to be here,” Tolaj said. “It is exciting for me and I am looking forward to trying to score goals and help the team win games. I had a positive meeting with the manager and I can’t wait to get started.”
Mark Bonner said, “Lorent is a hungry young player who is keen to prove himself at League One level and had a number of good options for a loan. We are pleased he will be with us until the end of the season and hope the loan will be of benefit for all parties.
“He is a forward who offers a physical presence and secures the ball well with his back to goal, also possessing clever movement to threaten in and around the penalty area.”
“We have watched a lot of him through the season and think he has the qualities to add to our team and contribute towards maintaining our momentum and development as a squad. I’m looking forward to working with him and welcoming him to the club.”
Tolaj will wear number 17 and is available to be selected for tomorrow’s match away at Bolton Wanderers.
