Cambridge United can confirm that Leon Davies has left the Club…
The 22-year-old defender rose through the ranks of the U’s Academy – joining at the age of 10 - before establishing himself as a member of the First Team squad.
Mark Bonner said, “We are proud of Leon’s journey with us from the very early beginnings in the Academy, to making over 60 appearances in the First Team over recent seasons and being a key part of the promotion winning squad last year. These are all great achievements and a brilliant example to other young players of what is possible.
“Having now returned to full fitness and been supported through a tough injury spell, he will have benefitted from a short loan spell which sets him up ready for regular football. His qualities will benefit many teams as he looks to find the regular football he is now in need of to develop in this next stage of his career.
“We will continue to be available as a source of support for Leon now and in the future and thank him for his contribution, wishing him every success in the future.”
The Club would like to place on record its thanks to Leon for his significant contributions during his time with the U’s.
