Cambridge United is delighted to announce the refurbishment and rebrand of the Executive Lounge to The Layrd Design Lounge...
Locally based Commercial Interior Designers, Layrd Design and long-standing partners Regent Construction have worked in partnership with Cambridge United to refurbish the Executive Lounge, Board Room and Reception areas of the Abbey Stadium Main Stand.
The work, which was carried out days after the final game of last season, was completed on the eve of the 2022/23 new campaign. The refurbishment includes a welcoming modern reception area with slatted timber cladding and timber-effect vinyl flooring.
This leads to the new Layrd Design Lounge which was designed to define the identity and history of both the Football Club and City of Cambridge. The new and improved hospitality lounge includes a contemporary purpose built bar, comfy and minimalist furniture with two brand new 55’ sports screens.
The Board Room has followed a similar design brief that has created a distinguished modern room to welcome visiting directors on Matchday, which will also be used as a meeting space for weekly meetings.
Will Mayes of Layrd Design said, "It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to create a bold new look for the executive hospitality areas at Cambridge United Football Club and bring a sense of Cambridge into the spaces as well. We hope all supporters and guests enjoy the new experience in The Layrd Lounge."
David Sheldon, Regent Construction Director added, "Having spent many enjoyable afternoons in the Executive Lounge at Cambridge United, entertaining clients and friends, it became obvious the facilities needed refreshing.
"Having discussed this with Neil Rowe, I introduced Will Mayes from Layrd Design and I think everyone can agree Will came up with a modern and vibrant design that reflects the atmosphere of Cambridge United.
"From Will’s design we were able to approach our supply partners and together the project took off, creating the new Layrd Lounge with no financial impact on the Club. I am looking forward to spending more afternoons in the lounge for the upcoming season.”
"The transition has been quite incredible," Cambridge United Head of Commercial Neil Rowe said. "At the planning stage, I had full confidence in both Layrd Design and Regent Construction that the outcome would be great, but the final product is beyond my expectations.
"The design process was based around creating a premium space for supporters to enjoy a special occasion, entertain clients or simply to upgrade their Matchday experience.
"I can’t understate the impact this will have on the Football Club going forward. I want to thank David, George and Mat from Regent Construction for their exceptional project management and Will at Layrd Design for his vision for such an exciting project."
The Club would like to place on records its thanks to all of the contractors who helped with this project; 3 Dimensions, Jackson Fire & Security, Munro Building Services, Cambridge Flooring Co. Ltd, Jewsons, Coach House Joinery and Mick George.
You can book the Layrd Lounge this season for just £90pp, including upcoming home games against Exeter City and Burton Albion. Please contact commercial@cambridge-united.co.uk to register your interest.
