Cambridge United is delighted to announce that Dimitar Mitov has signed a new two-year contract with the Club...
Mitov, 24, joined the U’s from Charlton Athletic in 2017 and has since established himself as a key part of Cambridge United’s squad, making 74 appearances over the past three seasons.
“I had a good conversation with the manager,” Mitov said. “He wanted me here, I wanted to be here and I am really looking forward to at least another two years with the Club. As soon as I found out that they wanted me, I said to my agent ‘let’s get it done’.”
Head Coach Mark Bonner said, “I am really pleased that Dimi has extended his stay with us and look forward to seeing him continue to improve and rise to the challenge of League One next season.
“He has an infectious personality, possesses all of the qualities we look for in a goalkeeper, and has good experience already for his age. All of these elements will help him maintain his progress towards fulfilling his undoubted potential.”
Mitov’s new contract means he is the first of last season’s squad that won promotion to extend his stay at the Club by signing a new deal.
