Hiram Boateng has extended his stay with Cambridge United until the end of the 2020/21 season.
The U’s have agreed a new loan deal with MK Dons to secure the midfielder for the remainder of the current Sky Bet League Two season.
Boateng initially joined United back in October and quickly impressed in the centre of pitch, with his creativity helping the U’s to five wins, four draws and just three defeats in his 12 appearances to date.
A shoulder injury in early December has since ruled Boateng out until late January/early February, but the U’s have worked efficiently with his parent club to retain his services for his return to fitness for the second half of the season.
Head Coach Mark Bonner commented: “We are delighted that we have Hiram with us until the end of the season and look forward to welcoming him back from injury.
“From the outset the plan for Hiram was to get playing again and his impact on the team was excellent prior to his shoulder dislocation. He is working hard to stay fit and when his recovery is complete will offer real strength to our midfield for the season run in, and whilst we are without him for a little longer, believe it is worth waiting that period of time until he is ready to re-join the squad.
“He is a character we like and possesses real quality in possession. I believe he is enjoying his football and that will be to our benefit in the months ahead.”
