Cambridge United, through its’ Community Trust, have partnered with the University of South Wales to deliver an exciting new foundation degree
Do you want a university degree and a career in football? A new Cambridge United Community Trust initiative will allow you to achieve both. By partnering with the University of South Wales, we are offering students the opportunity to study for an established sports Foundation Degree, whilst being based at Cambridge United.
The Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development is a 2 year course, delivered through a blended learning approach. You will get 200 practical hours, spread across the year, to enhance your skills as a coach, along with lectures delivered through online content overseen by your course mentor.
Over the duration of the course you will study a multitude of disciplines within football and coaching, such as Football Event Management, PE and School Sport, Introduction to Sports Science for Football, and Football Coaching: Theory to Practice.
With the broad variety of taught modules within the course, many career paths and opportunities become a possibility; you will be prepared to work in a professional football club’s community department or a National Governing Body in areas of growth, such as social inclusion, community coaching and football development.
So, what do you need to apply? The typical A-level offer is DD with at least one in Science, Maths, PE or Psychology. From a BTEC Diploma you will require MM and the BTEC Extended Diploma requirement is MPP in a relevant subject. However, each and every application will be reviewed and considered.
