DEADLINE DAY DEAL DONE FOR DEFENDER DRYSDALE

Cambridge United have completed a deadline day Loan for Coventry City defender Declan Drysdale until the end of the 20/21 season.

The 21-year old arrives at the Abbey to strengthen Head Coach Mark Bonner’s options in central defence following the departures of Harry Darling and Robbie Cundy.

The powerful centre half began his career with Tranmere Rovers, developing through the youth ranks at Prenton Park, making two first team appearances before Coventry City made their move for the youngster.

He’s featured four times for the Sky Blues, but has continued to build senior match experience through loan spells with Solihull Moors in the National League, and during the first half of the current campaign with Gillingham in League One, playing 17 times for Steve Evans’ side including against the U’s in the EFL Trophy back in December.

Head Coach Mark Bonner commented: “We are pleased to have added Declan to the squad to give us added competition and cover. He is well regarded at Coventry City and comes to us having experienced first team football and played in League One this season.

“His challenge is to come and add value to us and quickly integrate himself into our United team."
