Cambridge United Stadium Manager Ian Darler discusses the excellent work undertaken by his groundstaff and team of volunteers to beat the big freeze and ensure Saturday's fixture with Southend United was playable.
Darler along with his right hand man Mick Brown and the volunteer team who help work on the Abbey pitch, were awarded the man of the match award following their herculean effort to ensure the fixture with the Shrimpers would not fall foul to the minus 10 degree temperatures and extreme weather conditions throughout the week prior.
It is the second time Darler and his staff have been awarded the accolade having successfully defeated the Beast from the East in 2018.
