BONNER DELIVERS FIRM MESSAGE OF MOTIVATION AHEAD OF NEWPORT TRIP

Mark Bonner has laid down a firm message of the level of performance he expects from the U’s tonight in their Second Round Carabao Cup clash at Newport County.

The United Head Coach is clear in his mind that the U’s should pride themselves on being a team that always meet a high standard and find a way of making an impact in fixtures, regardless of the competition or the environment.

Bonner said: “I think there is a massive significance on every single game you play for our Club. That’s it!

“You cannot turn that off or on for one competition or another. We have got to look like the team I want us to be every time we play, in every competition.

“Whatever facilities we have to get changed in, whatever the state of the pitch we have to play on, whatever the weather is. I am battering this message into the players and anyone that will listen.”

He continued: “I don’t think you can turn good on and off, or choose when you want to be good. You either are or you aren’t!

“We must build a mentality that everytime we step on to the pitch, we look like the team we want to be. We have to compete with everyone, and show that we are capable of beating anyone.

“So whatever competition that is, the mentality from us cannot change.”
