Cambridge United can today confirm that Mark Bonner will continue as interim Head Coach for the Football Club's next two fixtures, with the recruitment process for a permanent appointment ongoing.
Bonner will be in charge for both of the upcoming Sky Bet League Two matches against Newport County this Saturday and then Scunthorpe United on Tuesday 11th February.
This additional period ensures that the Football Club is able to take the necessary time to guarantee a thorough and detailed recruitment process, in order to make the right long-term appointment.
Cambridge United Head of Football Ben Strang commented: "The importance of making sure this decision is the right one for the Football Club, far outweighs the importance of speed.
"We should absolutely be willing to take the necessary time that allows us to exhaust every avenue and be as thorough as possible in our recruitment process, and we remain confident in appointing the right individual for the role.
"We thank Mark (Bonner) and the football staff for the excellent work they have already done in such a short space of time, which produced the impressive performance and result we all enjoyed against Colchester on Saturday. We have every faith they will be working as hard and diligently as possible in their preparation for the next two fixtures over the next eight days."
Cambridge United would also like to place on record our sincere thanks to all of the home supporters who attended the Abbey on Saturday and provided the players with such a vocal and passionate backing.
