Samir Carruthers has provided a message following his return to first team action at the weekend.
As has been previously stated in the press by the Club, Samir has been dealing with personal issues away from the field which Cambridge United have been supporting the 26-year old with throughout.
These are now at the point where the midfielder is back and available for selection for all forthcoming Sky Bet League Two fixtures.
Commenting on his return Samir Carruthers said: "I would like to go on record and personally thank Cambridge United for the way in which they have supported me during what has been a very difficult time for me personally over the past six months. I also really valued the reception from the fans on Saturday which meant a lot and I was really pleased to play a part in a great win for the team.
“Right now I'm delighted to be able to focus on working hard to produce performances back on the pitch again and repay the faith shown in me by the Football Club."
Cambridge United Head of Football Ben Strang added: “We have given and will continue to give Samir the Club’s full support at what has been a challenging time for him personally. What is important now is that we can now look forward to seeing him back contributing on the pitch. As we saw on Saturday with his match winning assist Samir can be a real asset for Cambridge United during his time here at the Club."
