Cambridge United today confirms that regrettably this week’s Academy stadium fixture with Manchester City has had to be cancelled, due to unforeseen circumstances. However, we pleased to also announce a replacement fixture has been organised at short notice against another Premier League outfit in Norwich City – kick off 6:30pm, Thursday evening.
The Club’s U15s/16s will now face East Anglian rivals the Canaries at the Abbey instead in the Terry Baker Memorial Match, with supporters still encouraged to get right behind the U’s young players and make the evening a valuable experience for all.
Academy Manager Tom Pell commented: “Due to circumstances out of our control, I am disappointed to inform everyone that the Manchester City fixture this Thursday 24th October 2019, will now not take place.
“However, I am absolutely delighted to say that we will now be playing different Premier League opposition in Norwich City FC – same time, same place!
“I would like to thank Greg Crane and Dean Wright at Norwich City for their help in fulfilling the fixture at such short notice and hopefully with a bumper crowd (and maybe a few Canaries fans making the short trip across the A11) it will be a great experience for both sets of players.
“We look forward to seeing you all at the Abbey on Thursday ready for a 6.30pm kick off.”
Tickets for the Norwich City fixture are just £5 for adults and £1 for u18s and can be purchased online at cufcdirect.com, or in the ticket office on the night.
