Cambridge United are pleased to announce Tom Champion will be back at the Abbey for this Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup fixture with Exeter City!
Returning as the club’s guest in Club Cambridge Hospitality, the former U’s midfielder will be reminiscing about his time at the U’s, with supporters able to meet him by upgrading to Club Cambridge for just £30.
Throughout this season, in a joint initiative between Cambridge United and its Former Players’ Association, U’s legends are mingling with fans in Club Cambridge at every home game.
Anchoring the midfield and occasionally popping up in central defence, Champion went on to make 102 U’s appearances over a two year spell – and a few of them will never be forgotten. Among them were the two triumphant Wembley appearances of 2014, first winning the FA Trophy and then securing promotion to the Football League. He also played in United’s first game back in the League in August 2014, and was the immensely proud captain of the side that took on Manchester United at the Abbey and Old Trafford early in 2015.
