Tom Knowles produced a match winning performance for Royston Town on Saturday as the young winger grabbed a goal and an assist in the Crows’ 4-1 demolition of Biggleswade Town.

Knowles featured alongside fellow U’s loanee Joe Neal away at the Carlsberg Stadium, as the pair helped Royston secure a fourth straight win in the Evo-Stik League South.

Meanwhile, Ben Worman was also in goalscoring action for his loan side Bishop Stortford who took on Potters Bar at the Prokit UK Stadium. The young United forward managed to get on the scoresheet for the Blues with a left footed shot from the inside the box, however it could not prevent Stortford from tasting a 2-1 home defeat.

Elsewhere, United midfielder Lee Watkins was in the thick of the action for Mildenhall Town at Recreation Way in a dramatic clash against league leaders Bowers and Pitsea. The game was level at 1-1 with five minutes to go when Mildenhall had the chance win the game with a penalty. However the spot kick was missed and Bowers and Pitsea went on to grab a late winner of their own at the other end of the field.

Fellow midfielder Sam Squire also featured in last weekend’s round of games as he turned out for Needham Market as they took on Banbury Town in the Evo-Stik League South. Squire played the full 90 minutes, however he too was on the wrong side of a close 2-1 score line.

U’s pairing Sam Goode and Sam Bennett were both involved for Haverhill Rovers against Godmanchester Rovers away from home on Friday night in the Thurlow Nunn. Both U’s youngsters played the entirety of the tie which was level at 1-1 for long periods, before three second half goals saw the game get away from the Suffolk side. The two United scholars face league leaders Histon next weekend.

Meanwhile, young full back Jordan Norville Williams was in action for St Neots in an extraordinary fixture with Redditch. The United left back played the full 90 minute in which St Neots took an early lead before Redditch were reduced to eight men after three were sent off. That should have seen St Neots push on to win the game, however an unbelievable effort from Redditch saw them stay in the game, and score a late equaliser which held the saints to just a point.

Finally second year scholar Craig Foxall was involved again for Soham Town Rangers as they took on Witham Town at Spa Road. Foxall enjoyed a successful afternoon as Soham ran out 1-0 winners, to confirm three points and a clean sheet for the U’s young goalkeeper.
