Cambridge United are delighted to introduce this Saturday’s 12th Fan and therefore leading the U’s out at the Abbey Stadium against Oldham Athletic, is Mark Bradford.
As part of the #UnitedSince1912 campaign, the U's are delighted to introduce the 12th Fan initiative supported by Mick George, which will see a Cambridge United supporter profiled on the Club website, feature in the U’s squad list as number 12 on the programme and lead out the U's at the Abbey Stadium on every match day in 2018/19!
Congratulations Mark! How long have you been supporting Cambridge United? When was the first game you attended and what was it that hooked you to become a supporter of the club?
My first visit was around 1968 when I saw United play Kettering Town in which a player called Roly Horrey scored a hat trick. I also remember being squeezed in the Allotment End in 1970 when Chelsea visited and paraded the FA Cup. The two clubs agreed to play a match as part of the transfer of Ian Hutchinson to Chelsea.
I have always followed United from that point and as I am from Bottisham, it just seemed natural to support your local team.
Who have you attended the games with during the time you have supported the club and who do you attend the games with now?
I now attend with my two sons Alex and Ben and we sit in the Main Stand. Over the years, I think I have watched from every angle in the ground.
