Programme Preview:

FROM THE BOARDROOM

Welcome to the players, staff and in particular the fans of Morecambe FC who have made the long trip down today. Although both teams have now secured their League status for next year we have no doubt that it will be a hard fought contest as there are still important points and league places to play for.

This has been a tough season for everyone at Cambridge United. We are very well aware that the relief we all feel now we are mathematically safe from relegation does not mask the fact that we have found ourselves in this position in the first place.  As the Board we know that we collectively have to be better in the future and we are committed to doing everything we can to make that happen.

Our sincere thanks go to all our fans. Even though things have not been great you have stayed behind the team and never turned on the players. Support is easy when times are good. It is much harder but also that much more important when things are not going well. We have all stuck together and it is no exaggeration to say that your backing home and away has played a massive part in getting us over the line. We know how much it is appreciated by the players and everyone at the Club.

There will obviously be the chance to review things and look ahead at both the AGM on Saturday May 11 and also at the first meeting of CUSP which will take place in the summer. We have timed the AGM around Paul Barry’s availability as it is obviously important that he is there and we hope to fix the first date of CUSP shortly now that elections have been held so that its voice can also be heard as we plan for next season. Our congratulations to all those who have been elected and thanks to everyone who put themselves forward and in particular the working group.

Thank you again and COYU
