Nigel Pearce of the CUSP working group commented: "Congratulations, therefore, go to James M, David, Chris, Andy, Nigel, Justin, Sam, Philip, James C and Mark who are all duly elected to the first Cambridge United Supporters’ Panel (CUSP). I’m really sorry that Pauls Mayes and Suckling, and Spencer, are the ones to miss out.
"As you will notice, of course, Paul Moffat and Ben Payne were tied in 11th place! This presented a slight problem, given that the CUSP constitution states that it should comprise of 11 elected fans. In these unique circumstances, however, Paul and Mark will both be elected, on a provisional basis. The first CUSP meeting will decide whether it is content to continue as a group of 12, or whether it should remain faithful to the constitution – in which case Paul and Ben could, for example, toss a coin to see who continues as a member. The Club is happy with a panel made up of 11 or 12 members, whichever CUSP decides.
"The online ballot was open to all Cambridge United fans between 30th March and 14th April. In total 495 fans voted – thanks to everyone of you."
NB: Of these votes 12 were identified as clear duplicates, and discounted.
The first CUSP meeting with the Club will be held in the coming weeks.
