TERRY BAKER TRIBUTE AT MK DONS FIXTURE

Cambridge United Football Club were deeply saddened to announce in May this year, that former Chairman and Honorary Director of the Club Terry Baker had passed away at the age of 83.

A fan of the U's since 1947, a long-term sponsor and member of the Vice-Presidents' Club, Terry became a director in 2005 when the club was facing the consequences of administration, relegation from the Football League and the possibility of liquidation.

Aged 70 when he first joined the board, he served three spells as a director, stepped in twice to chair the Club and finally retired in 2016, following which he was deservedly announced as an Honorary Director.

Tomorrow's match has been sponsored by the Baker family in memory of Terry. Ahead of the game a private service will take place in which Terry’s ashes will be laid to rest in front of the Newmarket Road End.

We are also delighted that Terry’s wife Val and the Baker family will be joining us in the 8Build Hospitality Lounge for the match.

Ahead of kick off tomorrow afternoon, we will be asking supporters to join the Club in a minute’s applause to pay tribute to Terry’s life and show their appreciation for his contribution to Cambridge United Football Club.

Terry has also been posthumously awarded the Ethos Community Hero of the Day award, and the match ball will be delivered to our referee, Dean Whitestone, by Terry’s grandchildren.

Finally the match day programme will also include tributes from Dave Doggett and Colin Proctor, who have written excellent pieces, highlighting Terry’s magnificent devotion to Cambridge United across 50 years.
