Cambridge United are delighted to announce this weekend’s 12th Fan, and therefore leading the U’s out at the Abbey against MK Dons, is John Moxley.
As part of the #UnitedSince1912 campaign, the 12th Fan initiative supported by Mick George, will see a Cambridge United supporter profiled on the Club website and match day programme, occupy the number 12 shirt and lead out the U's at the Abbey Stadium on every match day in 2018/19!
Congratulations John! How long have you been supporting Cambridge United?
I have been supporting Cambridge United since 1978. My first game that I attended was with my dad and my mate Richard and it was against West Ham United at the Abbey back in 1978.
Who have you attended the games with during the time you have supported the club and who do you attend the games with now?
As I say it was probably my Dad that got me hooked to Cambridge United as a kid, so I used to first come with him. I now attend the games with my friend Claire.
Which stands have you watched the games from? Have you always been in the same place or have you moved around the ground?
I always used to be in the Newmarket Road End but in recent years I now use the disabled area due to my Cerebral Palsy.
What is your best memory of supporting the club and why?
My best memory absolutely has to be when we won in the play-off final at Wembley I think back in 1991 and when Dion Dublin scored the goal.
