Cambridge United are delighted to announce the signing of former Carlisle United forward Reggie Lambe on a two-year contract.
The 27 year old arrives at the Abbey Stadium following his release from the Cumbrians last season, and provides the U's first team squad with additional attacking threat across a number of forward positions.
Thrilled to have committed his future to United, Lambe commented: " I am absolutely delighted to finally put pen to paper at Cambridge United. It’s taken a while but there was never any doubt about my decision to sign for Cambridge.
"After speaking to the management staff about the focus and style of play for the upcoming season, the decision was made very easy for me.
Now that the paperwork is out of the way I can fully focus on the work that matters on the pitch."
Lambe began his professional career in East Anglia with Ipswich Town, progressing through the youth ranks at Portman Road, making two appearances for the Tractor Boys before joining Toronto FC in 2012. During his season long stay in Canada he racked up over 50 games in the MLS and then switched to Swedish side Nyköpings BIS for a three month spell in 2014.
Ahead of the 2014/15 campaign, Lambe arrived back in England signing for Mansfield Town, where he played over 60 games for the Stags and scored ten goals. He moved to League Two rivals Carlisle United in 2016 and has added a further 80 games and 14 goals to his career tally over the last two seasons.
Meanwhile, the forward also boasts international honours having represented and his native Bermuda 28 times, for which he is currently the international captain and has found the net on six occasions .
Cambridge United's Head of Football Ben Strang concluded:
"We’ve admired Reggie’s qualities for a long time. He brings versatility and compliments the existing attacking options within the squad. From day one he was a priority target so we’re thrilled to complete the signing and look forward to working with Reggie for the next two years.
He’s proven at the level, is a terrific team player, carries the ball well and is technically excellent. We firmly believe he’ll be a player that will excite our fans and contribute greatly to the team."
