U'S COMPLETE GEORGE TAFT LOAN UNTIL END OF THE SEASON

Cambridge United can confirm centre-back George Taft has reunited with the U's for a third loan spell at the Club, switching from Mansfield Town until the end of the 2017/18 Sky Bet League Two season.

The 24 year old arrives back at the Abbey Stadium to bolster the U's options in central defence, following the injury to Leon Legge.

During the first half of the 2017/18 campaign Taft added 12 appearances and six clean sheets to his Cambridge United tally, having also featured on 11 occasions in amber and black during a previous loan period from Burton Albion back in 2015.

The defender, who began his career by progressing through the academy ranks at Leicester City has already achieved promotion from Sky Bet League Two with Burton Albion's in May 2015, before also making a number of appearances at this level for Mansfield Town.

He therefore adds good experience across the back for United, where he returns to a familiar environment.

Taft’s first game back for the U’s could see him feature in tomorrow’s Sky Bet League Two trip to Coventry City. Tickets are available online here.
