U'S SIGN NORWICH CITY U23S CAPTAIN ADAM PHILLIPS ON LOAN

Cambridge United have today added Norwich City midfielder Adam Phillips to their squad on loan for the remainder of the 2017/18 Sky Bet League Two season.

Phillips, 19, arrives at the Abbey Stadium on a six month deal and gives the U's an additional option in central midfield.

The youngster who signed a two-year deal with the Canaries last summer, switched to Carrow Road permanently following a successful trial from Liverpool, where Phillips had spent ten years in the Red's Academy.

He has since captained Norwich City's U23's squad this season, making 14 appearances and joins the U's looking to gain his first senior appearances in the EFL under his belt.

Cambridge United Head Coach Shaun Derry commented: "Adam is a player that arrives with a fantastic reputation and one that we have kept a close eye on for a couple of years now.

"With the second half of the season still to play, we highlighted the need for more options and quality on the ball in midfield areas.

“We wish Adam the very best of luck during his time here with Cambridge United.”

Meanwhile Head of Football Operations, Ben Strang added: "Adam has got good pedigree from his academy upbringing at both Liverpool and Norwich City, and this is a great opportunity for him to experience first team football.

“We would like to thank Norwich, particularly Neil Adams and Stuart Webber in facilitating this move.”
