MATCH REPORT | CAMBRIDGE UNITED 0 YEOVIL TOWN 0

Cambridge United and Yeovil Town played out a stalemate, goalless draw in a scrappy wind-affected Sky Bet League Two affair at the Abbey Stadium.

Reggie Lambe was the U’s only change as he replaced Jake Carroll in the starting eleven.

The first half was a very low key affair, with both sides struggling to get to grips with tricky weather conditions at the Abbey Stadium.

George Maris did well to wrap his foot around a volley on the edge of the Yeovil area from Jabo Ibehre’s cut back cross midway through the half, but it was a comfortable save for Glovers keeper Stuart Nelson.

Ibehre then looked to have got the beating of the shot stopper on 33 minutes when the striker got across his marker to head Harrison Dunk’s cross to the near post goalwards, but the effort was marginally wide of the mark in what proved to be the only clear cut opportunity of the half.

David Forde was twice called into action during the opening stages of the second period, first calmly catching swirling shot by Tom James which required excellent concentration, before reacting brilliantly moments later to flick out a boot and divert Sessi D’almeida’s low shot from 18 yards away from goal.

They were the only chances the Glover’s created in the match, but conditions worsened as the game progressed making it tough for the U’s to find a way to clinch all three points.

George Maris drive forward with possession and into a shooting position ten minutes after half time, but his lashed strike with his left boot was halfway between a shot and a squared pass across goal.

The midfielder did play the pass of the match though with 14 minutes to play which carved open the Yeovil defence for Paul Lewis to run clean through on goal, but he was unable to find pick out a finish dragging a shot wide having beaten Nelson to the ball 15 yards out.
