Read a sneak preview of Colin Calderwood's first set of programme notes as U's Head Coach ahead of today's Sky Bet League Two clash against Lincoln City - Match Programmes available at the Club Shop, CFU van and across the ground for just £3.
Firstly I must start by saying thank you all very much for the warm reception on the touchline from both the travelling Cambridge United supporters before the game at Morecambe ahead of Christmas and also here three days ago before our match with Crawley.
It must be said that the continued support and patience of the club's supporters during a tough opening half of the season, has been something I have very much been made aware of from my fellow football staff and board members, since arriving at the club. No doubt all of the players will need that backing to continue throughout the next half of the season.
We want to make the Abbey Stadium a difficult environment for visiting teams to come to, and your support for the players will be very important in that. We saw the effect of that on Boxing Day against Crawley Town when the team gave you plenty to cheer about.
I've seen real industry from the players and a willingness to work hard during my opening week at the Club. Ultimately, we need results and we are all aware that is something that needs to change consistently and quickly, albeit it's easier said than done.
We saw a bare minimum of what we should expect from ourselves in the first half at Morecambe, but I really enjoyed the player's improved performance here against Crawley, which showed the amount of heart, desire and ability within the team. There was certainly a contrasting atmosphere in the changing room after the respective games.
Tickets for today's fixture with Lincoln City will be available from the ticket office right up to kick off at 3:00pm.
