Cambridge United are delighted to announce winger David Amoo has signed an additional one year contract at the Abbey Stadium.
The 27-year old, who joined the U’s last summer following his departure from Partick Thistle, has quickly become a firm favourite with United supporters who will now continue to enjoy watching the wide man until at least the end of the 2018/19 season.
Despite a number of injuries hampering his season, Amoo has still managed to make 24 appearances in amber and black providing an especially impressive impact from the bench, in which he has excited the amber army with his blistering pace.
His new deal with the Club will allow the former Liverpool academy starlet the opportunity to continue improving his match fitness and developing further his impact for the U’s.
Pleased to be extending his contract with United, Amoo said: “I am really enjoying my time here with Cambridge United so when I was offered a chance to continue that, it was an absolute no-brainer.
“The fans have welcomed me to the Club brilliantly and have been so patient through all the injuries and set-backs. I am therefore looking forward to being able to repay their faith in me, and the management team too who have worked so hard on making sure I’ve been able to play a part this season.
“I’m so excited to have another year with the Club.”
Meanwhile Head of Football, Ben Strang added: ““If we’re honest it’s been a disjointed season for David, but when we have had him fit and available he has made hugely positive contributions.
“He is a goal threat, has excellent consistency in his end product and offers us a ball carrier in a wide position. If David can have a good off-season and pre-season to build from, we firmly believe he can be an integral member of the squad.
“On his day he has shown that he is difficult to contain at this level, so the challenge for David is to produce this consistently.”
