MATCH REPORT | CAMBRIDGE UNITED 0 ACCRINGTON STANLEY 0

Cambridge United were held to a goalless draw by Accrington Stanley as the U’s extended their unbeaten Sky Bet League Two streak to five games.

Medy Elito and Gary Deegan returned to the U’s starting eleven, with Paul Lewis and the suspended George Maris missing out.

United edged the better of the half chances in a quiet opening 45 minutes in front of goal, Uche Ikpeazu was closest when he ran on to a pass from Ibehre, before working it on to his left foot and drilling at goal which was palmed away by Accrington keeper Aaron Chapman.

An early free kick in the second half for John Coleman’s side saw Sean McConville’s delivery bounce all the way through the United area towards Jordan Clark, which the winger fired over David Forde’s goal. Accrington then rattled the goal frame moments later through Billy Kee, before the U’s shot stopper pounced on the follow up by Sean McConville.

At the other end United responded through Jevani Brown, with the forward fizzing a shot wide of the mark.

Shaun Derry’s men dictated play for much of the remainder of the game and looked likely for a winning strike. However Jabo Ibehre’s chance on the hour mark at the far post from a Jevani Brown set piece delivery was as close as they came, with Chapman again in place to stop the ball crossing the line for the visitors.
