Cambridge United confirm the final pre-season friendly at the Cambs Glass Stadium ahead of the 2017/18 season, with Josh Coulson's Testimonial against Tottenham Hotspur U23's.
Following Coulson's testimonial dinner last month, Cambridge United are pleased to confirm the date of the long-serving U's defender’s testimonial fixture will be Friday 21st July (K.O. 7:45pm) to mark his ten years of dedication to the Club as a professional player.
With United already announcing fixtures against Norwich City and Southend United at the Cambs Glass Stadium this coming pre-season, the home schedule has now been completed following the addition of a match against the team Coulson supported growing up as a boy, Tottenham Hotspur.
The fixture provides the Amber Army with the opportunity to show their appreciation to Josh for his commitment to Cambridge United over the last decade, whilst also watching the U's new-look squad in action against some of the hottest young prospects in the country.
Cambridge United CEO Jez George commented further about the match in honour of the U's centre back, he said: "The dinner that we hosted for Josh was a brilliant evening, with iconic figures from the Club's past joining guests ranging from the Club Chairman, Directors, staff, friends and family. The event was a sell out and everyone present was able to show their respect and affection to truly 'one of our own'.
"This game now gives our wider fanbase the opportunity to pay tribute to such a long serving, loyal and honest player, who has represented the Club with such distinction on and off the pitch.
"We are extremely grateful to Tottenham Hotspur for their help in making this game possible. Make no mistake, they will have some exceptional young players and it will be a really competitive, high quality fixture. I would urge everyone to support Josh and give him another night to remember. He deserves it."
Further ticket details about all three of the U's home pre-season fixtures will be released in the next week. There will also be an opportunity for players within the Cambridge & District Colts and Mini League, where Josh started his career with Cherry Hinton Lions, to attend the game free of charge.
