A late goal from Jabo Ibehre saw the U's come through their first pre-season fixture against St Neots Town with a 0-1 win.
Adam McGurk and David Amoo went close for United in the first half before Head Coach Shaun Derry elected to make 11 changes at the break.
A trademark Piero Mingoia delivery saw George Maris too head wide of the mark.
However Ibehre, who had hit the post earlier in the half, was in the right place at the right time to side foot past the St Neots keeper, who failed to handle a powerful drive at goal from Brad Halliday in the 90th minute.
