MATCH PREVIEW | BLACKPOOL
Cambridge United return to Sky Bet League Two action tomorrow afternoon as the U’s entertain Blackpool at the Cambs Glass Stadium, kick off 3:00pm.
Following the exciting run in the Emirates FA Cup which culminated in a memorable evening against Leeds United on Monday for the U’s, Shaun Derry’s side return to the EFL, hopeful of maintaining their unbeaten streak in League Two which stretches back to late November.
Having not featured last weekend, United have dropped back out of the division’s top seven and face a side in Blackpool who are also chasing a play-off finish.
The additions of Jake Carroll and Paul Lewis this week has bolstered Derry’s selection options, whilst the U’s Boss has also indicated a number of players are close to returning to full fitness including the likes of Harrison Dunk and Brad Halliday.
Meanwhile, Blackpool visit the Cambs Glass Stadium looking to restore their charge for the top seven.
Following a rocky start to the season, much like the U’s Gary Bowyer’s side pieced together a strong run of results in the lead up to Christmas positioning themselves on the brink of the play-off places. However, the Tangerines are without a win since Boxing Day and have slipped to 11th place.
Striker Kyle Vassell leads Blackpool’s tally for goals so far this season, but it was a late strike from Andy Taylor who rescued a point for the Lancashire side when today’s teams met at Bloomfield Road earlier this season.
In fact the reverse fixture between the sides certainly produced a great deal of entertainment, with Luke Berry opening the scoring from a sublime free kick and Will Norris saving his third penalty in a week.
Blackpool lead the overall head-to-head record by four wins to three, with the U’s aiming to level that statistic this weekend.
Tickets for the game are available online, in-store and by calling 01223 566 500 with U’s fans able to save £2 off full match day prices when buying before midday on Saturday.
