MATCH PREVIEW | BARNET - AWAY
The U’s travel to Barnet at the Hive Stadium this weekend in Sky Bet League Two, with both sides looking to move themselves closer to the play-off places.
United are in search of back-to-back victories after last Saturday’s incredible 3-2 win over Newport County and Tuesday evening’s midweek clash with Accrington Stanley was postponed.
The U’s currently sit mid-table and just four points off the top seven with a game in hand, so three points this weekend over the Bees would move them well into the hunt.
U’s Boss Shaun Derry was dealt with an injury blow this week following the loss of Uche Ikpeazu for eight weeks due to a calf injury, however Greg Taylor and Medy Elito both look to be nearing a return from their respective stints on the side lines.
As for Barnet, John Akinde is the Bee’s top goal scorer this season with a remarkable 20 goals which also makes him the highest scorer in the division.
Under new stewardship with Kevin Nugent joining the club in mid-February, Barnet are unbeaten in their last two, including a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth last weekend on home soil.
Goals from Piero Mingoia and Alex Nicholls on the opening day of the season saw the sides share the spoils in the reverse fixture at the Cambs Glass Stadium. In fact this game has been tightly contested in recent years, with the U’s drawing their last two encounters at the Hive.
Barnet enter this fixture with only three wins from their last ten homes games, whilst Shaun Derry’s men have won five of their last ten on the road, with three draws and just two defeats.
Tickets for the game are available at the Hive Stadium or online here.
