ASTRAZENECA ANNOUNCED AS HEADLINE SPONSOR FOR CAMBRIDGE UNITED COMMUNITY TRUST GALA DINNER

Cambridge United are delighted to announce AstraZeneca as the headline sponsor for our Community Trust Gala Dinner at the Cambs Glass Stadium on Friday 12th May.

The night will see Cambridge United Community Trust share their vision for developing the Club's community engagement and raise money to enhance existing programmes and develop new initiatives.  Every penny raised will be used to deliver charitable projects within Cambridge and the surrounding areas.

AstraZeneca have been collaborating with Cambridge United Community Trust since November 2015, with the multinational biopharmaceutical company partnering with us to develop and support our 'Active Science' project, which we deliver in a number of local primary schools.

Delighted to now be supporting the prestigious Gala Dinner, Jenny Horsfield - Global Transaction Director at AstraZeneca and Board member of Cambridge United Community Trust - commented: "AstraZeneca is delighted to be sponsoring the Gala dinner.  We have been pleased with our 'Active Science' collaboration and are impressed with the great work the Trust do within the extended community to promote health, education and wellbeing.

"This very much aligns with AstraZeneca's goals to support the work done in schools and colleges to spark an interest in science. AstraZeneca, together with its global biologics R&D arm MedImmune, plays an active part in mentoring science students in Cambridge who have the potential to discover life-changing medicines in the future and contribute to the future of healthcare."

The event will take place in a specially erected marquee, and will also include the presentations for the Cambridge United Sport in the Community Awards, which are currently being nominated each month through a partnership with Cambridge Independent.

The night will bring together the Cambridge business community, providing fantastic opportunities for networking, with the opportunity to sponsor an award or reserve a table, as well as raising funds to directly benefit the local community.

The University of Cambridge's Judge Business School have already committed to sponsoring one of the awards, and we will announce the complete list of categories, along with all the company supporting them, in the coming weeks.

Cambridge United Community Trust CEO Ben Szreter commented: ''The Trust's Gala Dinner will be a great opportunity for local businesses to socialise whilst supporting Cambridge United's work within the community.

"The evening will help support our projects throughout Cambridgeshire and help businesses connect with each other as well as their community. We look forward to welcoming a range of businesses to Cambridge United and celebrating all of our joint commitment to improving the lives of people within our local area."
