CAMBRIDGE UNITED SIGN JEVANI BROWN ON TWO-YEAR DEAL

Cambridge United are pleased to announce the signature of former St Neots Town forward Jevani Brown on a two-year contract, following an impressive trial period with the Club.

The 22-year old has earned a permanent position at the Cambs Glass Stadium ahead of the 2017/18 season, having trained regularly with the first team as well as featuring four times for the U's during pre-season.

Pleased to have been offered a longer term opportunity with the U's, Brown commented: "Now that the deal is sorted my mind set has changed and I want to work just as hard at getting a place in the team.

"Having met all my team mates during the trial, I know how competitive it will be to earn a place in the squad, but I'm looking forward to it.

"Even before my time here I knew a few of the players already, but all of them have welcomed me into the squad brilliantly during pre-season and now that I am here, I couldn't be any happier.

"This Club is fantastic at giving young men opportunities in the game and personally Cambridge United have provided me with a chance to test myself in the Football League and I can't wait to get started."

Brown began his career as a youngster with Peterborough United, before switching to a number of non-league clubs in Barton Rovers, Arlesey Town, Wingate & Finchley, Kettering Town and St Neots.

More recently the energetic forward has also been on trial at Championship outfit Birmingham City, before impressing during the U's fixtures against Norwich City, Ebbsfleet, Tottenham U23s and Dartford this summer.

With Brown now a permanent fixture within his first team squad, Head Coach Shaun Derry commented: "We're delighted to welcome Jevani back to Cambridge United.

"Having joined us for the majority of pre-season and played against different types of opposition, he's made a real positive impression on all of our staff.

"Technically he can more than hold his own within the group and he gives us further options in an attacking sense."

Cambridge United Head of Football Operations Ben Strang concluded: "Jevani joins us at an exciting time in his career, at 22 and having scored 19 goals in 20 games in the second half of last season at St Neots.

"It's vital that we have a constant awareness of players performing well locally in non-league. We have a great relationship with St Neots and I'd like to thank Lee Kearns, Iain Parr and Matt Clements for their support and part in Jevani's development.

"He has plenty to learn but has undoubted ability and we are excited by his potential."

Meanwhile, Cambridge United can also confirm that striker Adam McGurk has been placed on the Club's transfer list.
