MATCH PREVIEW | LEYTON ORIENT – HOME
Cambridge United host Leyton Orient at the Cambs Glass Stadium this weekend, in search of consecutive Sky Bet League Two victories that would keep their play-off hunt alive.
The U’s produced an excellent display at Crewe Alexandra last Saturday, with a Luke Berry brace ensuring a 2-1 win for Shaun Derry’s men on the road and maintaining the five point gap from the top seven.
United were bolstered by a number of players returning to the first team fold at the Alexandra Stadium including the likes of Uche Ikpeazu, Medy Elito and Adam McGurk, and their recoveries are a week further along.
Meanwhile, Barry Corr started his first game in over 13 months last weekend and looks likely to be involved once again at the Cambs Glass Stadium. Piero Mingoia is likely to miss out but James Dunne and Scott Wharton both have a chance of making the squad after a return to training his week.
As for the O's, they will arrive at the Cambs Glass Stadium fighting to keep their EFL status in tact following a torrid season in Sky Bet League Two.
Now under the stewardship of former U's star Omer Riza, their fifth manager during the current campaign, Orient will be aiming to pick up their first win since a 4-0 thrashing over fellow League Two strugglers Newport County at the beginning of March. They are without a point in their last five fixtures.
However, United will still be wary having conceded late at Brisbane Road in the reverse fixture which ended in a 1-1 draw.
With 18 wins, the U’s lead the overall head-to-head record against Orient who have 12 victories over United. However, four of the last five League meetings between the sides have ended in a 1-1 draw.
