MARIS COMMITS FUTURE TO THE U'S
Cambridge United midfielder George Maris has secured his long-term future with the U's having penned a new two-year contract at the Cambs Glass Stadium.
Maris, 21, will now feature for the U's until at least the end of the 2018/19 season following an exciting debut campaign.
The former Barnsley man switched from Oakwell last summer on an initial one-year deal and has since impressed with his creativity and energetic displays, to earn a new longer-term contract.
The young midfielder has amassed 23 appearances this season, scoring on three occasions including the stunning strike against League leaders Doncaster Rovers.
Cambridge United Head of Football Operations Ben Strang commented: "George has shown moments of real quality this season and deserves a longer contract with the Club. He has played over twenty games as a young player aiming to establish himself in the First Team.
"He possesses good technical ability and the capability to play across a variety of attacking positions.
"If he can produce and affect games consistently, we firmly believe that George can be an excellent asset for Cambridge United Football Club."
