MUNDIPHARMA PLEDGE SUPPORT TO SHAUN AND JOEY FUNDRAISER AT CAMBRIDGE UNITED

Cambridge United are delighted to announce a fantastic gesture from a local company that will ensure everyone attending the #FootballFamilyDay event on Sunday has an even greater effect to the funds raised.

Mundipharma International Ltd, for whom Joey Abbs is one of their employees, will make a donation of £3 for every seat sold in Cambridge United's Mundipharma Community Stand towards Sunday's fundraising event for Shaun Whiter and Joey Abbs.

The Cambridge-based pharmaceutical company already sponsor the stand, which is a focal point for Cambridge United Community Trust engagement activities, and directly helps to fund many of these projects through their financial support.

Commenting on the commitment from Mundipharma, Cambridge United CEO Jez George said: "The capacity of the stand is 2,833, so this amazing offer by Mundipharma provides us with the chance to raise an additional £8,500 for Shaun and Joey on Sunday.

"Our job is now simple.  We need to maximise their potential donation by filling the stand.  Every single person attending the event now knows that they are contributing even more to the fundraising than just their price of admission."

Tickets for the Football Family Day can be purchased at www.cufcdirect.com and will also be available from the Cambridge United ticket office on the day. Alternatively, donations can be made at the Just Giving page http://po.st/DonateShaunJoey.

A tournament between Newmarket Town, Soham Town Rangers, Cambridge City and Fulbourn Institute, whose teams will consist of current players and club legends, will form the main entertainment on the day. The first game kicks off at 1pm, with the final at 3pm.

The addition of a Children's Fun Zone, that will include inflatable football pitches, inflatable goals, Mick George's Chip in the Skip and an auction, are also part of the itinerary on the day with all proceeds going to Shaun and Joey.

George concluded, "The local media have been fantastic in promoting the day.  Then, with the help of Manchester United, Chelsea, Lionel Messi and others we could not have received any more coverage on social media.

“Now we urge as many people locally, within and outside the football community, to come along to the event to support these two brilliant young men and help us raise a huge amount of money for them."
