MATCH PREVIEW: BLACKPOOL – AWAY
Cambridge United return to Sky Bet League Two action tomorrow looking for their fifth consecutive win in all competitions against Blackpool.
Shaun Derry’s men will be keen to continue their upsurge in results and the climb up the League table against the Tangerines at Bloomfield Road. Newport County, Yeovil Town, Accrington Stanley and Middlesbrough have all fallen to defeat at the hands of the U’s in the last two weeks.
The dramatic finish to last week’s victory over Accrington, in which Will Norris twice saved a penalty in stoppage time to ensure United secured a 2—1 win, means the U’s will be without defenders Leon Legge and Brad Halliday for the clash in Lancashire, having both seen red cards. However, United head into the fixture in strong form.
Meanwhile, the hosts have won just two of their last six fixtures in all competitions with their last victory coming against Portsmouth at Bloomfield Road just under two weeks ago.
Gary Bowyer’s men are one point ahead of the U’s in the League table, sat in 16th position, with the sides set to meet for the first time since March 2002 where Blackpool ran out 4-1 winners in the Football League Trophy.
The Tangerines lead the overall head-to-head record between the teams by four wins to three.
