DERRY WANTS QUICK REGROUP AHEAD OF OXFORD CLASH

Post Match: Shaun Derry

Cambridge United Manager Shaun Derry is looking for his side to regroup quickly after yesterday’s defeat to Bristol Rovers, ahead of another huge clash with Oxford United at the Abbey Stadium on Monday.

Having been beaten 3-0 by the Gasmen, Derry feels the U’s can now take advantage of a busy Easter schedule by rectifying Friday’s result quickly against the Bulls on Monday.

Speaking post-match, he commented: “It is imperative we regroup quickly. We will be back in training tomorrow and Sunday before Monday’s game against Oxford.

“The glorious thing about playing football the way we do, with the amount of games there are in this League, is you always have an opportunity to put it right. That is what we have on Monday, we have to bounce back and produce a good level of performance against a side who will give us another tough afternoon.

“It is a great game to be involved in for all of us.”

Assessing the match at the Memorial Stadium, the U’s boss added: “I’m upset and bitterly disappointed by the performance that we put in.

“Going forward we have to find some level of consistency in our performances as we can’t go and produce what we have last week and then drop dramatically like we did this afternoon.

“It was horrible to concede in the manner that we did. In the first half, 2-0 tells a story but for those that were here, you could see that glaring errors culminated in the goals that we conceded.

“The third goal has finished us off, and I can’t say more other than I’m really disappointed.

“We’ll be looking to bounce back quickly on Monday.”
