Cambridge United sign Charlton Athletic's Karlan Ahearne-Grant
Cambridge United have acquired the services of Charlton Athletic striker Karlan Ahearne-Grant on a one month youth loan.
The highly rated 18-year old is a product of the Addicks' academy system and gives Cambridge United Manager Shaun Derry an additional option in attack.
Signed by Charlton in 2009, Ahearne-Grant put pen to paper on his first professional contract just 17 years old, having achieved top goal scorer in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons for Charlton's U18s despite still being a schoolboy.
The striker made his professional debut against Norwich City in 2014, playing a further eight games last season, and has since made 17 Championship appearances for Athletic during the current campaign.
Ahearne-Grant has also caught the eye on an international stage at Under 17, 18 and 19s level, where he has represented Englang on eight occassions.
He now joins the U's on loan until 13th February and Manager Shaun Derry commented: "Once again we have managed to recruit another exciting young talent in Karlan.
"He has tasted first team football for Charlton at an extremely high level at a very young age. We hope that Karlan can now take his career to the next level during his time with Cambridge United on loan."
Ahearne-Grant could make his debut for United in today's Sky Bet League Two clash with Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.
