SHADOW SCHOLARSHIP TRIALS – APPLY NOW

Shadow Scholarship Trials – 15th February 2017 – Abbey Pools Leisure Centre,

Cambridge United set to host trials for the club's Shadow Scholarship scheme for boys aged 16 -18 at Abbey Pools Leisure Centre on Wednesday 15th February (6:00pm).

Run in conjunction with Cambridge Regional College, the Shadow Scholarship offers talented footballers the chance to receive both regular professional coaching from UEFA level coaches, and a first class education to open further opportunities such as university.

The Shadow Scholarship has been up and running for four years and has already proved successful, with a record number of students going onto University and higher education as a result of the course last year.

Former Shadow Scholar Scholar CJ Lewis has just completed his first semester in America and is expected to be joined by more of this season’s second years.

The course also provided a route for a number of players in Non-league Football including former student Charlie Woolfe who is now playing for Cambridge City.

The scheme has also given opportunities for students to coach within the Cambridge United youth development system at Soccer Centres, Soccer Schools, RDCs and even at Shadow Academy level.

Woolfe alongside Charlie Rome, David Ramjee and Charlie Brown all now work full time for the Club as Football and Sports coaches having completed the course.

Meanwhile, a handful of students have also represented the U's for the Youth Team, including Harry Darling and Thomas Knowles who recently signed a full time academy scholarship with the club having excelled on the Shadow Scholarship.

This season Harry Darling also signed a three-year professional contract with Cambridge United.
