MATCH PREVIEW | STEVENAGE – AWAY

MATCH PREVIEW | STEVENAGE – AWAY

The U’s are back in action as they travel to the Lamex Stadium to face Stevenage on Boxing Day and extend their winning streak to five consecutive victories in Sky Bet League Two.

Shaun Derry’s side have so far produced an impeccable run in December, with their last win over Crewe at the Cambs Glass Stadium ensuring United a spot in the top seven before Christmas.

Prior to that United had defeated Notts County, Cheltenham and Hartlepool to produce their best spell in the league since the mid-1990s, as well as securing a place in the Third  Round of the Emirates FA Cup with an emphatic 4-0 over Coventry City.

The U’s record on the road is also very impressive, having not suffered a defeat since the trip to Plymouth Argyle in September. The treatment table still sees Medy Elito and Adam McGurk out alongside long termers Barry Corr and Josh Coulson.

Meanwhile, today’s hosts Stevenage are enjoying a rich vein of form of their own and currently occupy 9th position.

Darren Sarll’s side have lost just three from their last ten League fixtures and also boast a scintillating run away from home winning their last six away League fixtures.

However, at home they have not been as fruitful and have succumbed to defeats by Blackpool and Doncaster in the last two at the Lamex Stadium. In fact they are without a win on home soil since a 2-1 victory over Crawley Town in September.

Home advantage certainly made a difference when the teams met last season, with the U’s claiming a 1-0 victory in the first half of the season at the Cambs Glass Stadium, before Stevenage claimed the spoils 2-0 in the returning fixture.

A limited number of away tickets are available from the Stevenage ticket office ahead of this afternoon’s clash which kicks off at 3:00pm.
