Cambridge United face Crewe Alexandra in the final game at the Cambs Glass Stadium of 2016, with Shaun Derry’s men on the cusp of the top seven.

Following last weekend’s impressive 5-0 win over Hartlepool United at Victoria Park in which the U’s secured their fourth win in five Sky Bet League Two fixtures, United are now just two points off the play-off places.

Joe Pigott and Sean Long have both retuned to fitness having missed out last weekend in the North East through illness and a leg problem respectively.

Meanwhile the final visitors to the Cambs Glass Stadium in 2016, Crewe Alexandra, arrive looking to secure their first win in three Sky Bet League Two fixtures.

The Alex are yet to pick up a victory in the month of December, but three points for Steve Davis’ side this afternoon would see them leapfrog the U’s in the League Two ladder.

So far this campaign Alex Kiwomya and Ryan Lowe - who has recently attracted the attention of former club Bury in a player-coach role - are top scorers with seven goals respectively.

Tomorrow’s clash will be the first meeting between the sides since February 1995 where the Alex the 2-1 in Division Two. However, the U’s hold a narrow lead in the overall head-to-head record with ten wins to Crewe’s seven.
