CAMBRIDGE UNITED LAUNCH REGIONAL SUPPORTERS HUBS
Cambridge United are pleased to announce a new platform for supporters to improve the level of engagement with the Club in their local area with the launch of three new Regional Supporters Hubs.
The Hubs, which will be initially piloted in Ely, St Ives and Newmarket in January, aim to bring together supporters, fans and followers from all activities within the Club, as well as giving them the opportunity to shape Cambridge United's future presence within in their local community.
Tag-lined "Cambridge United in Your Community", the Regional Supporters Hubs will be open to all involved with Cambridge United such as season ticket holders, fans, and participants of the Club's extensive community sport programmes.
The first event in each location will outline the format of the Hubs going forward. Supporters are invited to attend this open forum and encouraged to participate in a discussion with Club staff as to how the Cambridge United can improve engagement within their community.
Cambridge United values the passionate backing of its supporters and these new Hubs will provide them with a new method in which to become better connected across the region. Further Regional Supporters Hubs are planned for later in 2017.
Commenting on the launch of the new Hubs, Cambridge United Chairman Dave Doggett said: "We have made great strides within the community in recent years and the supporter hubs are a fantastic way to pro-actively connect with our fan base and find out how we can continue that growth.
“We are aware that our fan base stretches far further afield that just the City of Cambridge and this is an excellent way in which we can engage with our fans to increase the footprint of Cambridge United and positively affect our community.”
The first three meetings will be held on the following dates:
Friday 13th January – Newmarket Town Football Club.
Friday 20th January – St Ivo Outdoor Centre
Friday 27th January – Ely City Football Club.
Fans elected Director Dave Matthew-Jones said "Many supporters now travel to matches from outside the city boundaries from locations all across Cambridgeshire. We need to be constantly finding new ways of engaging with them and also providing opportunities for everyone to become more involved with Cambridge United.
"The new hubs will achieve these aims. They will also act as a launch pad to further grow our fan base by having supporters coming together and everyone working in a co-ordinated and planned way.
