LEON LEGGE

“WE SET A STANDARD ON TUESDAY NIGHT AGAINST WOLVES AND WE WANT TO MATCH THAT GOING FORWARD.”

Cambridge United centre back Leon Legge says the U’s are eager to back up the midweek display against Wolves in the EFL Cup, by producing a performance of similar ilk this afternoon at the Cambs Glass Stadium against the Hatters.

He said: “Tuesday gave us the chance to step away from the League to play with a freedom and as a result we have built some good momentum after a solid performance.

“We played against a team two Leagues above us with no fear and even when we went down by two goals showed our character to find a way back into the match. We pressed Wolves well and got into their faces. I actually felt we deserved to at least take the game to extra time.

“The aim is to take that into the Luton game as it will put us in very good stead of securing a result. All the lads showed a great attitude, and we produced what the gaffer and the coaching staff had asked of us. We need to replicate that in the League.

He continued: “We will take the same mentality into this game as we had midweek. We have set a standard now and must adhere to that in our future games.

“More than anything we have to take our fight from the Wolves match into Saturday.”
