INJURY UPDATE: ADAM McGURK

Cambridge United Manager Shaun Derry has confirmed that Adam McGurk’s knee injury will see the striker side-lined for two weeks.

The U’s boss revealed that the situation is far better than what was originally feared when McGurk sustained the injury in last week’s pre-season clash with Aston Villa at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

Derry said: “We’ve had some fantastic news regarding Adam and the knee injury he picked up in the opening minutes of the Aston Villa game.

“The swelling had subsided significantly the following morning and the coaching team were delighted to see him at the training ground the next day.

“The medical team have undertaken all the necessary tests and we can expect him to be back within two to three weeks which is much better than we first feared.

“He has been brought to the club as he offers the opportunity to play a different type of player in the forward positions, which gives us additional depth alongside Joe Pigott, Ben Williamson, and Barry Corr when he returns.”

The U’s begin the new season on Saturday at the Cambs Glass Stadium against Barnet, with tickets available online, in-store and over the phone by calling 01223 566 500.
