United boss reflects on JPT clash
Richard Money expressed his disappointment at an early exit from the 2015/16 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, following a 2-0 loss at the hands of Dagenham & Redbridge.
The U’s boss did draw positives from a Man of the Match performance by new loan signing Mickey Demetriou, who led United’s charge for forward momentum during an improved second half performance.
Money says the left-back displayed all the abilities that led the club to pursuing his services until January and hopes he’ll have a real impact for the U’s going forward.
Mickey showed what he was all about tonight, we know that he has a really good left foot and he’ll give us something different in that position.
“He likes to get forward from left back, we have been looking for someone like him, George [Taft] is more of a central defender than a left back, Greg is equally adept in either the right or the left.”
“Mickey’s left foot will be a bonus to us I think because we need somebody that is going to deliver crosses to Barry [Corr] when he comes back.”
Looking forward to Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two encounter with Luton Town, Money said all thoughts of the JPT defeat will have been cleared from the minds of his side.
“We all know that come Saturday afternoon tonight’s result will have no bearing on that fixture,” he said.
“The game against Luton will be a totally different type of game and atmosphere. I must say that the crowd were terrific to come out in the numbers that they did was a fantastic effort and it makes the result even more disappointing.
“We all know that we need to do better Saturday.”
The Amber Army are reminded that tickets for the Luton game will not be available on Saturday as the game has been marked as an all-ticket encounter. The club advises supporters to purchase as soon as possible to avoid missing out, click here to buy online now.
