Cambridge United visit Wycombe Wanderers this evening at Adams Park in Sky Bet League Two action, kicking off at 7.45pm.
The U’s will be looking to make it four consecutive fixtures unbeaten and will certainly take confidence from a 1-0 win over Stevenage FC at the Abbey Stadium four days ago, that saw Harrison Dunk score in the seventh minute of stoppage time to give United a deserved three points.
United Manager Richard Money will be without midfielder Keith Keane who underwent a minor operation this week, and centre Josh Coulson who is expected to be out of action with a calf strain.
However, the remainder of United’s first team squad remain in contention for a place in the side, as the U’s look to maintain their undefeated away League record this season.
Meanwhile, the U’s opponents Wycombe currently sit second in the division and have already shown signs of last season’s form which took them all the way to a penalty shoot-out in the League Two play-off at Wembley against Southend United.
Despite a sickening defeat on that day, Gareth Ainsworth’s side have bounced back with some real verve during the 2015/16 campaign and have only lost in one fixture so far this season as well as winning in five.
The U’s will be looking to secure their first win over the Chairboys since a 2-1 victory at the Abbey Stadium back in 2004/05.
Speaking to Cambridge-United.co.uk about this evening’s opponents, Manager Richard Money said: “They play with a lot of verve, plenty of energy and lot of quality.
“The manager [Gareth Ainsworth] has done a terrific job and has bright future in the game. To get that team to the play-offs was a big effort from where they were the year before.
“You could argue that the transfers that have been brought in over the summer to get them up to second, he has done an even better job this season.
“It is a tough game.”
Tickets are available to the Amber Army on the gate, with the club advising supporters to arrive as early possible to avoid congestion.
