The U’s are on the road again this weekend following Tuesday night’s trip to Wycombe with a journey up the A1 to take on York City at Bootham Crescent.
United will be keen to replicate the result and performance they produced against local rivals Stevenage at the Abbey Stadium last Saturday, as they look to put the defeat to the Chairboys earlier this week behind them with a return to winning ways.
Tuesday’s 1-0 loss ended a run of three consecutive games unbeaten for Richard Money’s men, who currently sit three points off the play-off places.
The U’s will still be without defender Josh Coulson who continues to struggle with a calf strain and Keith Keane will also miss the game having had a minor operation on his groin earlier in the week. The remainder of Cambridge’s first team squad are in contention to travel and be involved at Bootham Cresent.
The hosts York head into the match having not won in four games and sit 19th in the Sky Bet League Two table. City are looking to win at home for only the second time this season and have started in an inconsistent manner. Manager Russ Wilcox will see the fixture as an opportunity to kick start the Minstermen’s season and achieve their aim of finishing in the top half of the table.
The U’s will be looking to alter the recent form between the two sides with York being unbeaten against United since 2011. The overall record is also in the Minstermen’s favour with City having won 15 times to United’s 10.
Richard Money believes his side will learn the necessary lessons from Tuesday’s result to Wycombe, commenting: “In the first 20 minutes we probably had 10 opportunities. We don't really need to be doing anything differently other than taking our chances.
“I think the positive thing is we have gone to a team who were second in the table and more than held our own.
“York haven't had a great start to the season but I always feel that makes teams more determined. We are aware of a backlash and like ourselves they could really do with a win.
“I know Russell reasonably well and he has a good mentality and will know what to do to help them get the win. It is going to be a tough game.”
