Leon Legge looks ahead to Portsmouth clash
Cambridge United centre back Leon Legge wants the U’s to lay down a marker in tomorrow afternoon’s clash against Portsmouth at the Abbey Stadium.
The 30-year old feels the U’s have taken the positives from a late fightback away at York City last weekend in training and are on course to produce another important result.
Legge said: “We have been a bit up and down but the last 30 minutes of the York game was superb. The coach journey back was a much nicer place after being 2-0 down. We turned a negative result into a positive which is always good.
“If we take the momentum from that into this one then we have a great chance to get another win this weekend. We can really put a marker down on what type of team we can be and show the sort of teams we can beat.”
Legge is well aware of the threat Pompey and the vociferous travelling support that the South Coast side will bring and states the support of Amber Army is more important in this particular fixture than most during the season.
“They have had a good start but we have to remember that we are the home team and we need to attack like we normally do,” he said.
“They are a big club who I am sure will bring a lot of support. The atmosphere will be good and hopefully the Amber Army are cheering for the 90 minutes like they always do and can spur us on to a positive result.
“These sort of games can bring an extra 10% out of you and hopefully we can get a good result against them and set the standard for the rest of the season.”
Tickets are available to buy online until 1.30pm tomorrow afternoon and will be available at the ticket office until kick off.
