CAMBRIDGE UNITED SENIOR CITIZENS LUNCH

OVER 50 ATTEND COMMUNITY TRUST LUNCH EVENT

Last week saw Cambridge United host the monthly Senior Citizens Lunch event in the Premier Travel Hospitality Suite, which continues to grow in popularity.

Delivered by Club Chaplain Stuart Wood, the lunch event offers elderly Cambridge residents the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment with the club, as well as a two course meal and plenty of light-hearted company.

Available for just £5, those in attendance not only had the chance to enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere of the club’s luxurious new hospitality facilities, but also take part in the now infamous Dave Doggett bingo competition. The most recent prizes included Cambridge United branded transfer tattoos, beanie hats and the rather more appealing lure of bottles of wine.

The Cambridge United Chairman felt the monthly event was a good example of how the club through the Community Trust strives to lend a helping hand to the local community, commenting: “Cambridge United are determined to be more involved in the community.

“The monthly lunches are a great opportunity for our more mature supporters to meet up and enjoy lunch together. There is always a lot of fun and as we know laughter is the best medicine.”

Meanwhile, Mark Ashton Councillor for Cherry Hinton Ward added: “It’s a great social event, meeting up with people with excellent food.

“Where else would you get 2 courses and 2 games of bingo for £5!”
